weaving lore and tradition into imaginary worlds
I'm a new writer dipping my toes into the world of speculative fiction. I live with my significant other, two chaotic cats, and a jungle's worth of plants on the east coast of the U.S.
Currently, I am focused on exploring Vietnamese folklore in my writing. However, I am generally interested in the uplifting and haunting forms of human connection-and how SFF writing can lay those bare.
I wanted to be a writer as a child. However, I dropped creative writing after high school and convinced myself I just wasn't cut out for it. With nothing else to do outside of my apartment, I successfully completed NaNoWriMo in 2020 and decided to give this writing thing another try.
I am still learning and becoming more comfortable with this whole process. If you enjoy even a tiny bit of what I've written, I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.

behind a name
Hiền (heeng. pronounce sing with a long e sound in the middle, replace the s with an h and you've got it)
When I was born, my Vietnamese parents wanted to give me the name Ngọc Hiền (gentle jade). However, they ultimately decided on a Western name because they felt I'd have an easier time. So, I've chosen to write under the name originally intended for me.
